Gain Error
Gain error is incorrect scaling of the image field axes.
What causes gain error?
Each system responds uniquely to control, and the calibration angle varies from system to system. In marking, departures from the calibration angle manifest as squeezing or stretching along one or both image field axes.
Gain error specifies the maximum optical difference between the individual scan angle and the specified calibration angle.
Remedies
Gain errors can be eliminated via manual determination of the calibration factor or by applying software-assisted image field correction (e.g. with correXion).
