Sponsored by Germany's BMBF (Federal Ministry of Education and Research), the project seeks new ways to join fiber-reinforced plastics (FRP) and metallic structural components. The aim is to reduce component weight without elevating production costs.
Here, laser scan systems are used to join FRP and metal – with process-compatible, repeatable quality. This can create new lightweight-construction possibilities, and reduce process times and manufacturing costs.
