New Reference Standard for Scan Heads
SCANLAB AG, Puchheim Germany, has presented two new scan heads with innovative technology and exceptional performance characteristics at the Photonics West 2002 in San José, California. hurrySCAN II 10 (10 mm usable aperture) and SCANjet II (7 mm usable aperture) are the follow-up models of the very successful hurrySCAN and SCANjet scan head series. These are the first scan heads to utilize SCANLAB's newly developed dynAXIS S and dynAXISXS galvanometer scanners.
For the development of these scanners, SCANLAB drew upon more than 10 years of experience in the production and industrial application of scan solutions. The dynAXIS® S and dynAXIS XS are both custom-engineered for specific apertures. Dynamics and design are optimally adapted for each scanner’s intended use. Additional highlights are an innovative position detector system and a new concept for scanner thermal management.
The new performance standards established by the hurrySCAN II 10 and SCANjet II can be attributed to the new scanner technology, improved electronics and SCANLAB's extensive know-how. Marking speed has been significantly increased: on the average, the hurrySCAN II10 is 40% faster than the hurrySCAN 10 and the SCANjet II is around 20% faster than the already very fast SCANjet. Marking speeds in excess of 1000 characters per second are thereby possible.
Due to convincing performance accompanied by favorable drift characteristics, these new scan heads will find their use wherever the key to cost-effective processing solutions is characterized by highest speed combined with very good drift behavior. This includes processing of electronics components (micro-via drilling, direct structuring) as well as marking solutions in the semiconductor sector and the packaging industry.
