New Generation of Intelligent Drilling Heads
Following its success with the analog UHP20, SCANLAB again raises standards in laser drilling by introducing the intelliDRILL 20 to the market, result of innovations and advancements in digital servo control technology.
As opposed to analog drilling heads of conventional servo technology, the settling time of the digitally controlled intelliDRILL series will not keep rising linearly with the increasing pitches, but turns into a square-root-function by the digital servo control algorithms. It turns the intelliDRILL series into a top sprinter in its aperture class, capable of up to 2 kHz precise positioning over short pitches of e.g. 1 mm, and also into a superior step-scanner, which particularly excels in shortening the travel time between vias over long distances. Typically, positioning of 10 mm stroke can be minimized down to 1.5 ms within a settling accuracy bandwidth of +/- 3 µm (defined at approx. f = 100 mm focal distance).
Users can benefit from a wide variety of attractive smart functionalities, such as remote diagnosis saving maintenance costs, real-time monitoring of detailed operational states (positions, speeds, drive currents, supply voltage, scanner and PCB temperature) for enhancement of system reliability and serviceability as well as online or offline optimization of process parameters, and integration of multiple tunings in one system offering individual approach for trepanning, step or raster scanning.
Applying additional water-cooling to the entire system, reliable operation as well as optimal thermal performance and stability can be ensured in the long term, even under challenging environmental conditions or in conjunction with high laser powers used for fastest drilling of large-sized panels. Small size of the scanners and digital servo controllers enable compact system design.
Waiting on our doorstep is the intelliDRILL 30 with a usable aperture of 30 mm, providing another efficient option for vias of smaller diameter to be positioned under 1.4 kHz rate.
